“How can I support the pro-life cause when I can’t go anywhere?” one blog reader asked me. Great question! How can we be pro-life during the pandemic? I’ve shared my story of how I became pro-life here on this blog before. I also shared about participating in the 2020 Texas Rally For Life this past January. During the summer of 2019, I volunteered at a pregnancy resource center by helping with childcare while their parents were in parenting classes. I… Read more »

Back in January, I went to Texas’ Rally For Life. At the rally we heard Clair Culwell, an abortion survivor, speak. My friend Katie told me about Melissa Ohden who is also an abortion survivor and speaks against abortion. Melissa had written a book called You Carried Me and I decided to read it to learn more about her story. Oh. My. Goodness! I could not put this book down! I loved this book so much!   This post includes… Read more »

I’m so excited to announce a new series my friend Katie and I are doing on the Coffee With Kara podcast! Each month we will be recommending a pro-life book and answering a question about abortion/the pro-life movement. I met Katie in May 2019 at a sidewalk counseling training. The training was held 45 minutes away from where I live and when I got there I went to a table and sat down by two smiling women. A few minutes later,… Read more »

On Saturday, I went to my first ever Rally for Life! I wanted to share that experience with you! I went with my friend Katie. We got to Austin around 12:30ish and walked over to the capital where everyone was rallying.     I had to take a picture in front of the capital! I hadn’t been there since a fourth-grade field trip. And I absolutely love my new “Women’s Rights Begin in the Womb” t-shirt! (Affiliate link.)    … Read more »

“So what are you doing the rest of this weekend?” My friend Bonnie asked us at her birthday party on Saturday. A few of her guests offered up answers as I sat there wondering if I should say “I’m going to Planned Parenthood to pray tomorrow.” I stayed silent. On Sunday, my church had a luncheon I attended. I sat with two members of my Sunday School class and at one point, one of them asked, “So what do y’all… Read more »

Confession: I book-hop. Meaning, I tend to jump from one book to the next without finishing the first one… only to come back to the first and finish it before I finish the five other books I’ve started. When it comes to the pro-life books on this list, I’m no different. And so to continue my confession, I must admit that I’ve only finished one of the books on this list. I’ve only read through half of the others. But… Read more »

When I was in high school, there was a pro-life club at my school. I was a part of it my freshmen and sophomore years. However, I didn’t do much besides show up for the monthly meetings. Once I think I showed up for a “Life Chain” event one Sunday in October. But that’s about it. After seeing Unplanned, I decided I had to do something more than just saying “I’m pro-life.” I had to join the pro-life movement. But… Read more »

Today I’m not going to school. Yesterday I stayed late after school making sure sub-plans were just right and everything was good to go for today. Sometimes I hate taking off from work. Scratch that- I usually hate taking off from work. The bright side of making long and detailed sub-plans is that while I’m not in school I’m usually doing something fun. Like how in May I took off to go to my best friend’s college graduation. That was… Read more »

The movie Unplanned changed everything for me. Watching that movie, I knew deep down that I couldn’t just watch the abortion issue from the sidelines. I had to get up from the comfy Cinemark movie seat and do something. I didn’t know where to begin, but there was a phone number that flashed across the screen at the end of the movie along with a message that was something like, “If you or someone you know has had an abortion,… Read more »

A few weeks ago, I published a podcast about my journey into being pro-life. Today, I was reflecting on my journey and realizing that my pro-life journey has returned to the beginning in a sense. Tomorrow starts the fall 40 Days For Life campaign. 40 Days For Life is a span of forty days where people pray outside of abortion facilities. You can learn more about it by clicking here. Tonight my boyfriend and I attended a 40 Days kick-off… Read more »
