When Bonnie told me her story, I immediately asked her if she would consider sharing it here on Joy Because Grace. I’ve had other guest bloggers share about writing letters to your future husband (you can read those here and here), but I thought it would be awesome for Bonnie to share why she firmly believes that you should NOT write to your future husband.  Without further ado, take it away, Bonnie! :) I want to give you a piece… Read more »

Hello friend! Long time, no blog. That’s how I’ve been feeling lately. This semester has been crazy! I absolutely love teaching, but I always find myself tired in the evenings and blogging is the last thing I want to do to unwind (usually). The lid opened with that delightful “pop” sound and I took a big whiff of the Yankee Candle in the middle of a crowded Walmart. Mmmmm. It smelled so good! I smelled nearly every candle on that aisle and then settled on a coconut one that smelt like summer. I wasn’t allowed to have candles in my on-campus apartment during the school year, so I figured I better enjoy them during the summer. ‘Twas only logical, right? When the school year started again, I… Read more »

When I was in high school, I really liked dystopian novels. You know, like The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Maze Runner, and Delirium (just to name a few). Now that I’m a college grad, I find that my favorite genre of fiction is fairy tale retellings. Yup. You read that right. Fairy tale retellings. Whereas I once loved diving deep into a new sort of society and learning why it was so dysfunctional, now I love returning to the classic stories I… Read more »

One of my best friends and I met at a piano recital rehearsal when we were about 13. We happened to be sitting by each other during the rehearsal and neither of us said a word to the other, hindered by our shyness. I thus thought she was stuck up and snobby. She thought the same of me. All because of our silence. Truth was, neither of us was stuck up. We were just shy.  My friend and I didn’t start… Read more »

It was the last day of our England mission trip. We traveled to London to have one day of sight-seeing before our trip back to Texas. And our day in London was lots of fun! We got lost trying to find Buckingham Palace, saw Big Ben, and explored the Westminster Abbey. That night, five girls and I wanted to see Wicked on the West End (England’s equivalent to Broadway). We ate dinner with a group of people who were going… Read more »
