Do you like looking behind the scenes?

You came to the right place, friend!

Today I’m walking you through my daily charting routine and YOU get to see a behind the scenes look!

In this post I share my charting routine with you in case you've ever wondered what it looks like to chart with the FEMM method.

First, I pay close attention to what I feel when I’m wiping.

Does the toilet paper feel dry? Moist? Slippery?

How many wipes does it take to feel clean?

These questions help me determine my cervical mucus sensation.

Second, I look at the toilet paper.

Do I see any cervical mucus?

If you’re a beginner, you might find it easier to wipe before you pee so that way you can learn how to distinguish the mucus from pee.

Some days it’s easier to see mucus then on other days. How much mucus I have is dependent on my hormone levels and how close to ovulation I am!

After I wash my hands, I write down what I saw in my charting app.

I repeat these first two steps each time I go to the bathroom.

Third, I take an LH test.

I take an LH test (or ovulation predictor kit) once a day at 4:30— that’s about what time I get home from work.

It’s important that I take the test as close to the same time each day as possible so I don’t miss the LH surge.

I only have to take LH tests during my ovulatory phase!

After I read the result, I take a picture of the test and upload it into my Read Your Body chart.

Lastly, at night I open Read Your Body and finalize my chart.

I select the most estrogenic mucus I saw that day and make any notes about stress or illness that may apply.

Is today my point of change? Was yesterday Peak Day? Which phase of my cycle am I in?

These are questions I ask myself as I look over my chart at night.

Here’s what Brandi has to say about learning FEMM:

“I was reading all the charting books when Kara first offered this course and I jumped at the opportunity to learn from an instructor. Kara is a wonderful, supportive teacher. She is approachable and available for questions/concerns. I’m now confident in my charting after taking this course and would highly recommend it!
