“How can I support the pro-life cause when I can’t go anywhere?” one blog reader asked me. Great question! How can we be pro-life during the pandemic?

I’ve shared my story of how I became pro-life here on this blog before. I also shared about participating in the 2020 Texas Rally For Life this past January. During the summer of 2019, I volunteered at a pregnancy resource center by helping with childcare while their parents were in parenting classes. I was planning on doing that this summer as well… but then Covid happened and they weren’t offering in-person classes.

So I definitely relate to this question. How can we be pro-life when we can’t really go and do anything?

Well, my friend, as the saying goes, “Where there’s a will there’s a way.”

These are the ideas I thought of, and if you can think of a way we can be pro-life during the pandemic, leave it in a comment :)

It can feel hard to be actively pro-life during the pandemic since you can't go anywhere. However, there are still ways you can get involved!

5 Ways We Can Be Pro-Life During The Pandemic

This post includes some affiliate links. You can see my disclosure page here; thanks for your support!

1. Donate to Baby Registries

Sometimes women who find themselves in an unexpected pregnancy discover that they have no support for keeping the baby instead of choosing an abortion. If they don’t have a support system, who’s going to throw them a baby shower? Perhaps they do have support but they’re poor and so can’t afford to buy the things they need for their babies.

Buying an item off of a woman’s baby registry is an easy way to support her. You might be wondering, how do we find these registries?

Abby Johnson shares on Facebook baby registries for women who need help buying the things they need for their baby. She has a vetting process to make sure the women who contact her do need help, so if she shares an Amazon Baby Registry I trust that if I purchase from it the item will go to a woman in need.

Christine Yeargin shares baby registry links on Instagram as well. She’s another person I trust to share registries for real women in need.

Amazon baby registries are awesome because Amazon ships the item right to that person’s house for you! You can even add a note to your gift, such as “You don’t know me, but I’m praying for you and your baby. God bless!”

I love contributing to baby registries for women in need when I can. While it might not make a big difference in the pro-life movement as a whole, I think it can make a big difference in the life of one family. And I think that’s amazing!

2. Participate in a 40 Days For Life Campaign

The fall 2020 40 Days campaign had more participating locations than the spring 2020 campaign- which is surprising because Covid broke out during the spring campaign and they ended up stopping it early! But in the fall, 40 Days was back up and going!

If you haven’t heard of 40 Days For Life, let me tell you a bit about it :) It was founded by Shawn Carney and his wife in College Station, Texas. (If you’ve seen the movie Unplanned you get to see glimpses of the beginning of 40 Days.)

40 Days For Life is a twice-yearly prayer vigil. People across the globe meet at their local abortion centers to pray for the end of abortion. As the name suggests, the prayer vigil lasts for 40 days. In the spring, this coincides with Lent. In the fall it’s during October.

Why is participating in a 40 Days For Life campaign important?

Well, because prayer works, my friend!

From September 23rd-November 1st 2020, 761 lives were saved from abortion. And that’s confirmed saves- they track that by women coming and telling a volunteer that they were planning to have an abortion until they saw the people praying outside the abortion center.

Since 2007, the lives of 17,994 babies were saved, 211 abortion workers quit, and 107 abortion facilities closed due to 40 Days For Life campaigns (source).

The spring 2021 campaign is from February 17-March 28. You can click here to find a location near you. (Covid safety procedures vary by state, so check with your local vigil location to know what they’re doing to be safe during the pandemic.)

If you are unable to go in person due to Covid concerns or lack of a car, you can of course pray from home.

Going in person, if you are able, is important because our presence makes an impact too. We are there and able to pray with mothers and fathers should they request it.

And if you don’t have an abortion facility in your town (yay!) you can still participate by driving to the next nearest one. I drive 45 minutes to the closest abortion center to me. I figure if women in my town want to get an abortion, they’ll drive that same distance.

3. You can Purchase Pro-Life Clothing

And I don’t just mean t-shirts with pro-life sayings, although that’s fun too and I’ll post links to my favorite t-shirt shops below.

Also, disclaimer, I do NOT make money from these recommendations :)

Have you heard of Col 1972? It’s a clothing company that sells clothing such as dresses, sweaters, and swimsuits and give their proceeds to pro-life companies. I love this! So many of the mainstream clothing companies support abortions and Planned Parenthood. This is a way we can buy cute clothes while knowing our money supports life. You can learn more about Col 1972 here and shop their clothing here.

4. Donate to Pregnancy Resource Centers and Pro-Life Organizations

Another way to be pro-life during the pandemic is through donations.

If you can’t go to volunteer at a pregnancy resource center, you can still donate to them. You can contact your local pregnancy center to see if they need diapers, bibs, bottles, or anything else! Then you can drop off these items for them.

Or, you can donate monetarily to the pregnancy center so they can buy the items to give to women in need.

Pregnant on Campus has a great list of national pregnancy resources if you don’t know where to start.

If you’re in college, you can search to find your college on their state directory and see what resources your college offers pregnant women and you can find ways to help and donate through that.

If you’re in high school, you can look to see what resources your potential colleges offer pregnant women so you can know how you can be involved in the pro-life movement once you go to college.

5. You Can Read Pro-Life Books

So what if you don’t have much money and you literally cannot leave your house during this time?

Pray, of course.

But you can also use this time of sheltering in place to read some awesome pro-life books! Reading books is a great way to be pro-life during the pandemic because you’re educating yourself about abortion and how you can help women.

Pro-Life Books I Recommend:

Pro-life books I own but haven’t finished reading yet…

If there’s another pro-life book you’d recommend but don’t see listed here, please share it with me in a comment :)

So there are my ideas of how we can be pro-life during the pandemic!

I hope this post has helped you see that even if we can’t go to pro-life events or volunteer at a pregnancy resource center, there are still ways to be involved during this crazy time we’re living in.

If you have other ideas, please share them with us below!
