On Saturday, I went to my first ever Rally for Life! I wanted to share that experience with you!

I went with my friend Katie. We got to Austin around 12:30ish and walked over to the capital where everyone was rallying.

I had to take a picture in front of the capital! I hadn’t been there since a fourth-grade field trip. And I absolutely love my new “Women’s Rights Begin in the Womb” t-shirt! (Affiliate link.)

Katie and I didn’t make signs, but organizations were passing out signs so we got one of those. If I go again in the future, I definitely want to make my own sign. I loved looking at all of the creative homemade signs.

At shortly after 1, the march began!

Katie and I got to march near the front. Someone was playing a steady beat on a drum as we walked. There were a couple of men shouting, “WE ARE” and then the rest of the crowd yelled, “PRO-LIFE!” in response.

Just look at how many people there were! The street was filled with people. Young, old. Man, woman. People of all ethnicities. People from all over Texas. All of us came to stand up for the unborn and it was incredible to see!

After walking for about 45 minutes, we approached the front of the Texas capital.

There was a choir singing as we approached, and they were really good!

Then came the speakers.

They were all really good! There were a Catholic priest and a Baptist pastor. There were several Texan legislators/representatives. My favorite was Claire Culwell, an abortion survivor. You can hear a bit of what she shared here. You can hear a bit of what she shared here. Katie and I each got a picture with her after the rally ended!

Afterward, we walked around and looked at the different pro-life booths that were set up on the sidewalk leading to the capital. Some of the organizations I had never heard of, so it was cool getting more information about them.

Then we walked back to our car and started driving home.

The day was so much fun! I definitely want to go again. Only, if I do, I want to keep a few things in mind:

  1. Make my own sign.
  2. Go to the bathroom before the rally starts.
(We stopped at a gas station on our way and went to the restroom, but it was a long time from that to when I was able to go again haha!)
  3. Eat lunch before the rally, not after.
(We had planned to just eat snacks and then stop for lunch on our way home. But we didn’t end up leaving until 4ish! Next time, I definitely want to get to Austin early to eat lunch and then go to the bathroom one last time!)

Have you ever gone to some sort of pro-life rally/march? If so, what was your experience like?

Blessings,
Kara
