“How can I support the pro-life cause when I can’t go anywhere?” one blog reader asked me. Great question! How can we be pro-life during the pandemic? I’ve shared my story of how I became pro-life here on this blog before. I also shared about participating in the 2020 Texas Rally For Life this past January. During the summer of 2019, I volunteered at a pregnancy resource center by helping with childcare while their parents were in parenting classes. I… Read more »

Guess what?? My best friend is getting married in a week! Yay!!! 🥳 🥳 🥳 It blows my mind that we are old enough to get married. It was just yesterday that we were playing “pretend wedding!” and now she’s getting married in real life! (This is a picture of me realizing she’s getting married in a week LOL!)   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by Kara | Joy Because Grace (@kara_beth17) on Jul 9, 2020… Read more »

One of the saddest parts about this pandemic for me has been not getting to go to church each Sunday. Having to stay home and go to online church has been weird to say the least. I joined my church a little over a year ago and I have loved becoming a part of its community. My small group is just that- a small group. There are three of us there on average each week. Sometimes it’s just me and… Read more »

After my Aunt Laura passed away from leukemia in 2006, my parents planted a Mountian Laurel tree in our back yard in honor of her. Each spring it blooms beautiful purple flowers. My cousins came to visit us for Mother’s Day this year. My cousin Kelsey commented to Mom that the mountain laurel tree has gotten so tall! Mom agreed and then said, “But it hasn’t bloomed this year.” “Well, it is 2020,” Kelsey replied. I think for so many… Read more »

A few weeks ago one of my friends and I were playing the game Villainous. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have picked up that I LOVE this game. In my opinion, it’s the best Disney themed game out there. My friend had two of the expansion packs, so I was excited to play as new characters. Of course, I picked Mother Gothel from Tangled because that movie is one of my all-time favorites! Did you know that the… Read more »

JULY 2022 UPDATE: I’ve been using this program for 2 years and wrote an updated review. You can read my new review here. Also, The Balanced Life is now Lindywell! New name, same awesome Pilates :) We may be stuck at home during this time, but that doesn’t mean we can’t work out from home! The Balanced Life Sisterhood is the perfect way to do that! But first, let me back up and tell you a story… During the summers I… Read more »

The wait for the end of the Coronavirus is stressful. Can I get an amen? “How are you doing with the uncertainty of this time?” she asked me via FaceTime the other day. “Not well,” I admitted with a chuckle. “I wish I just knew when all this would end and life would go back to normal.” “How would knowing when it will end change what you’re currently doing?” she replied. I thought for a second. “I’d start a count-down,”… Read more »

As I write this, I have been teaching at home online for three weeks. My city issued a shelter-in-place mandate two weeks ago. My apartment isn’t terribly tiny, but when you’re constantly stuck in it, it starts to feel that way. The kinda cool thing about all of this is we’re all in this same boat in some shape or form. All of our lives are changing in some way during this time. I knew after a few days of… Read more »
