I discovered essential oils right around the time I graduated from college. But, man, do I wish I had some before then.

Since receiving my Young Living Premium Starter Kit last year, I have discovered a ton of ways I could have used essential oils during my college career. Today I’m sharing 5 of those essential oils with you!

I wish I had essential oils when I was in college. They would've made my life way less stressful. Don't be like me! In college? These are the oils you need.

1. Lavender

Lavender is amazing at supporting sleep! I wish I had had this oil when I was in college because I had several nights semesters where I had a hard time falling asleep because I was so stressed out about all the things I needed to do.

If I had lavender, what I would have done is diffuse lavender in my room before bedtime. Or, I would have applied a drop of lavender on my feet each night before falling asleep.

I do this quite often now that I have my oils and it never ceases to amaze me how lavender supports my sleep.

Lavender has a calming scent and so not only is it good for sleep, but it’s also good for calming me after a long, hard day. Speaking of long days…

2. Stress Away

Stress Away is so helpful because well, in a sense it takes your stress away. (Thus the name haha!)

Stress Away is a Young Living blend of Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Ocotea, Vanilla, and Lavender. Y’all, this smells like a tropical vacation! I love it!

I wish I had had Stress Away during college so I could have smelled its calming scent before a big test or presentation or even just after a rough day.

You know how college can tend to stress you out? Exams, projects, papers….. and how they tend to all be due in the same two-ish weeks (or was that just my experience 😬) Stress Away would have been great to diffuse during that time when all of my things were due.

Stress Away can also be applied topically. What I like to do is apply a drop on my wrists and then rub it in. This makes an awesome perfume and relaxes me at the same time! I would have loved to have done this before going to take a test in college!

3. Thieves

Thieves is another Young Living blend. It is composed of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus radiata, and rosemary. Y’all, this smells like Christmas!

Thieves great at supporting your immune system. Diffuse it in your dorm room to get rid of germs. You can also apply it topically to give your immune system a boost.

I don’t know about you, but getting sick and having to go to class is the worst in my opinion. Having something on hand to keep your immune system above the “wellness line” is a definite must.

I wish I had owned thieves when I was in college so I could have experienced its amazing immune supporting qualities.

4. Peppermint

Peppermint has a great, fresh scent and it helps keep my mind alert, focused, and awake.

Diffusing peppermint is great to help you focus when studying. It’s kinda like how chewing peppermint flavored gum can help you focus… only instead of the flavoring, you’re getting the real thing.

If I had owned peppermint essential oil during college, I totally would have used it all the time whilst I studied.

Peppermint is also a fun oil to have on hand so you can put a drop in your brownie batter. I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m definitely going to sometime during this Christmas season :)

5. Lemon

My college dorm had biweekly “room checks” where we had to make sure our room was spotless and the RA would come and check it to make sure it was clean. Having lemon essential oil on hand would have helped with this!

Diffusing lemon in a room helps the room smell so fresh and clean. It’s like a natural air freshener! The scent of lemon is also a very happy smell and a definite mood-booster.

I have absolutely loved discovering uses for my essential oils this past year. However, I wish I could have had essential oils during my time at college because they would have greatly helped my life. Essential oils make me feel happier, more confident, and relaxed (depending on the oil 😉).

If you’re in college, don’t be like me.

Don’t wait until you’ve graduated to get your hands on these amazing oils.

In college, every penny counts. I’m going to share with you the prices for the five oils I mentioned in this post, and then share a way you can get them for less.

  • Lavender (5 mL): $15.79
  • Stress Away (15 mL): $40.13
  • Thieves (5 mL): $19.41
  • Peppermint (5 mL): $13.49
  • Lemon (5 mL): $8.22

Altogether, these oils cost $97.04. Add in a diffuser, and they cost $180.92. I don’t know about you, but paying nearly $200 for five oils and a diffuser doesn’t sound that great. Especially if you’re in college. :/

But I have good news!

Young Living has a deal where you can buy what’s called a Premium Starter Kit and get these five essential oils PLUS six other oils PLUS a diffuser PLUS other goodies… all for $160. That’s saving you $20 and you get more oils in this deal.

Less for more? I’m all about that.

(And, when you buy a Premium Starter Kit, you automatically become a Young Living member and get 24% off all future purchases, if you’d like to make future purchases. Yay for more savings!)

I started out with the Premium Starter Kit and I’m so glad that I did. The Premium Starter Kit is an amazing deal in my opinion, especially considering how much everything costs individually.
