Today I’m reflecting on our wedding! I’m sharing all the details of what I loved and what I regretted. You’ll also get to see some pictures and watch our wedding video :)
In this coffee date, you’ll hear how we planned our wedding in three months. I’ve written a few posts on this topic too: How We Planned Our Wedding In One Month and Why We Chose A Three-Month Engagement.
I also share with you what vendors we went with and what we chose to DIY (links listed below).
You can listen to this episode of Coffee With Kara in a few different ways.
You can search for “Coffee With Kara” in your iTunes podcasts app. It’s also available through Google Podcasts, Spotify, and more! (Full list here!)
Or, you can listen here by clicking “play” below :)
Photography
I chose to go with Callie Ring Photography for our wedding and I’m so happy with that decision! All pictures in this blog post are taken by her (unless otherwise stated).
Videography
I debated hiring a videographer for a while. I REALLY wanted a wedding video, but they’re just so expensive! Additionally, we wanted to Livestream our wedding since we couldn’t have a big wedding due to Covid, so I knew that would be an added expense.
We ended up hiring a family friend to do our videography. Zach and I had been friends since we were babies and it was so fun to work with him! He did an AMAZING job live streaming our wedding and he made an amazing wedding video too! He gave us an amazing price for all that he did and I’m so grateful!

Hair & Makeup & My Dress
My best friend curled my hair and then I did a braid/twist thing I learned from a YouTube video. I also did my own makeup with my best friend’s help :)
I bought my dress at David’s Bridal. I shared a bit of the story of how I found it in the podcast episode, but basically, it was love at first sight!
I got my shoes from Cinderollies.
Bridesmaids Dresses
I had my girls wear dresses from Azazie. I told them to go with the dark green color and they could pick any dress style they liked. We had the groomsmen order the matching ties and we also were able to get matching face masks!
Flowers
I rented all my flowers from Something Borrowed Blooms and I’m so happy with this decision! We were able to save so much money and I LOVE how they look in the pictures. We rented the bridesmaids’ bouquets, the guy’s boutonnieres, our mom’s corsages, and a garland that we used on an arch for the ceremony and on our table for the reception. We also rented the bridesmaids’ flower crowns and my hair comb.
They have an option where you can purchase the bridal bouquet and we did that so I could keep my bouquet. I’m so glad! Now it’s decorating my dresser and I love how my bouquet will never die!
We also incorporated rosemary sprigs and some baby breath and white rose bouquets for centerpieces.
Decorations
I DIYed almost all of our decorations. You can see snippets of them in the wedding video :) We were going for a winter-Narnian-style wedding, so we had lots of white flowers, pinecones, and lanterns. I also decorated with wood pieces and books!
These are pictures that a family friend took while we were setting up for the wedding the day before:
Only we added fresh flowers to the vase the day of the wedding :)
Reception
After our wedding, we had our guests go straight to the reception and start eating their pasta & salad while we took pictures.
When we got there, we cut our cake immediately and then ate our dinner while listening to the speeches. After the speeches, we had our first dance and then the mother/son and father/daughter dances. Then the dance floor opened and people could either eat dessert or dance!
I share more about our reception in the podcast, including my one regret from the reception!
Caleb’s dad made our wedding cake and it was DELICIOUS and absolutely gorgeous!
The Dance
We DIYed our dance playlist. These are the songs we did:
- September
- Somebody Like You
- Would You Go With Me
- Footloose
- Happy
- Dancing Queen
- Why Don’t We Just Dance
- I Like It, I Love It
- Copperhead Road
- Can’t Stop The Feeling
- Breaking Free (from High School Musical- this was a big hit LOL!)
- Stayin’ Alive
- Bailando
- The Princess Diaries Waltz
- YMCA
- Wagon Wheel
- Beauty and the Beast
The Send Off
We did a glowstick send off and I love how the pics turned out!

What a wonderful podcast!
You mentioning premarital counseling caught my eye, especially since I am currently trying to learn more about the topic and why it is useful.
I would love if you wrote a blog post someday explaining your views on the topic. :)
