Caleb and I are only having a three-month engagement. Crazy, right? A few of you have reached out and asked why we chose to have such a short engagement, and today I thought I’d tell you that story :)     Why We’re Having a Three-Month Engagement… In November 2019, my apartment complex put a notice on the door of my roommate and my apartment that our lease was going to be up in January and if we were going… Read more »

Caleb and I got engaged on October 24th :)  I knew it was coming soon because we had bought a ring together about a month before he proposed. Today I want to write about our ring shopping experience. In July 2019, I asked Caleb not to propose until he was 100% positive I would say yes. I didn’t want to not feel ready for engagement and have to tell him no. He agreed and said we could go ring shopping… Read more »

Eek! Where to even begin?? If you’re new around here, start off by reading about how Caleb and I didn’t date. Then read the post “So There’s This Guy” to find out how he asked me to be his girlfriend. And if you REALLY want to get personal, go read the post “Transitioning from Singleness to Dating” to read a series of journals from when we first started dating LOL! Okay, so now that we have the backstory out of… Read more »

After my Aunt Laura passed away from leukemia in 2006, my parents planted a Mountian Laurel tree in our back yard in honor of her. Each spring it blooms beautiful purple flowers. My cousins came to visit us for Mother’s Day this year. My cousin Kelsey commented to Mom that the mountain laurel tree has gotten so tall! Mom agreed and then said, “But it hasn’t bloomed this year.” “Well, it is 2020,” Kelsey replied. I think for so many… Read more »

Today is my boyfriend and my third year anniversary! It’s crazy for me to think that it was three whole years ago that I was freaking out, wondering if he would ask me out and what I would do if he didn’t. I shared a bit of our story three years ago when I announced that we were dating. But today I want to share the whole story. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Mostly because I love reflection…. Hey friend! Welcome to Coffee With Kara! Today we’re chatting about something different than usual- I’m going to be sharing I started getting involved with the pro-life movement. I start off by sharing how my pro-life journey began when I saw the movie Unplanned (more details about that experience here) and how I started tip-toeing my way into the movement. And I’m going to share with you what I’ve been doing this summer to be pro-life. In addition to telling… Read more »

Have you ever wondered why bad things happen to good people? I sure have! Today I wanted to share a bit of my testimony with you. A few weeks ago, I did something I’ve felt scared of doing for years: I attended an auction fundraiser for a foundation that my aunt and uncle started. Okay, so I know that doesn’t sound like a scary thing, but let me explain. Seven years ago, my cousin Cody died from a sudden cardiac… Read more »

My best friend is Catholic. I’m Baptist. And I am so grateful that we are friends and have differing opinions about several things! Quick back story: Michaela and I met when we were 7. I became a Christian a few months after I met her. As we grew up, we occasionally discussed things relating to our faith. Stuff like the differences between priests and pastors, baptism, and “asking Jesus into our hearts” came up. I didn’t really understand the differences… Read more »

It was the last day of our England mission trip. We traveled to London to have one day of sight-seeing before our trip back to Texas. And our day in London was lots of fun! We got lost trying to find Buckingham Palace, saw Big Ben, and explored the Westminster Abbey. That night, five girls and I wanted to see Wicked on the West End (England’s equivalent to Broadway). We ate dinner with a group of people who were going… Read more »

It can be hard to wait when we can't see what goes on behind the scenes. Here are four lessons about waiting that we can learn from going out to eat.

The following is a guest post by my friend, Bonnie For the past two summers and over my last Christmas break, I worked as a hostess at a steak restaurant close to where I live. I loved my job as a hostess: the community I had with my coworkers always filled me with so much joy, I never had to lift any heavy trays and I got to spend my shifts welcoming people in and talking to them. It was… Read more »
