Written on 7/5/17 Dear God, I know you write each of us unique love stories, and that some of us will get married someday and some of us will be single forever. Thank You for the plans You have for us! I praise You because you are creative in how each of us looks different, have different personalities, and have different stories. God, if it is in Your will for my best friend to get married someday, I want to… Read more »

Have you ever gone a really long time without a quiet time with the Lord? Has your Bible ever sat there, unopened, for weeks (or months) at a time? Has your prayer life ever become shallow? *Raises hand.* I’m writing this post today because I need this post. I need to brainstorm some ideas here in this space. I want to be honest about this and I want to hold myself accountable. You see, I started off 2018 strong. I read my… Read more »

“Is praying for my crush to like me okay?” -I have heard that question so many times I’ve lost count. Each time I hear that question, my heart longs for me to be able to take the girl asking the question out for coffee. I want to be able to sit down with her, look into her eyes, and hear her story. To hear about the crush. To know why she likes him. Then, when she asks, “Is it okay… Read more »

Looking for ways to pray during a breakup? I totally understand. Two of my close friends have gone through breakups this summer and I know the struggle of knowing what exactly to pray for them. Back in August, I wrote a post about two ways to comfort your friend when she’s going through a breakup. One of these ways was praying for your friend. Today, I thought I would share 7 ways to pray for your friend during her breakup…. Read more »

Whenever the question “Who would like to pray for us?” is asked, I always shift uncomfortably. My mind races a million miles per second. Say you will, Kara! Be brave! Volunteer! Why won’t my mouth move to say “yes”? Come on, I can do this… But it’s not just me shifting uncomfortably. As I look around the circle, others are avoiding eye contact with the leader too. No one wants to pray!  And at that point the leader says, “Alright, I… Read more »

I think I was in sixth grade when I first prayed for this. I can’t remember if someone at church or at my Christian school had suggested it. But there I was, twelve years old, kneeling by my bed and praying for my crush’s future wife. It became a habit for about a month; I would pray for my crushes, pray for their futures, and pray for their future wives. Oddly enough, it wasn’t until a year later I started praying… Read more »

I took a yoga class this semester for my PE credit. Oh my goodness, I think I’ve found a form of exercise that I actually enjoy! I love how yoga works out your whole body and you get your heart pumping… but without running! Kara doesn’t run. (I think the last time I ran was this one time seven months ago when I was babysitting for a family and their dogs got loose and I had to chase them through… Read more »

Here on Joy Because Grace, we’ve discussed praying for our future husbands quite a bit. We’ve discussed why it’s important, ways we can pray for them, and what we can pray for them. I’ve even created a “Praying for Your Future Husband eGuide” you can grab for free. However, we haven’t really discussed the personal benefits of praying for a man we’ve never met. Now, I’m not saying here that the only reason we should be praying for our… Read more »

At various times in my life I tried to use a prayer journal. I would either write out my prayers like letters to God or I would make bullet lists of people/ situations for which to pray. Neither of these methods worked for very long. I realized back in September that I needed a prayer journal that I could be creative with. One that wouldn’t look the same on every page. One that I could record what I was learning… Read more »

Prefer watching videos instead of reading? View the video version of this post on YouTube:   I’m just going to say it: Prayer can be boring sometimes. *Gasps* I know I shouldn’t feel that way. Prayer should be this amazing time of communication between us and God.. but sometimes it’s just a little dry. I want to spice up my prayer life.  I don’t think God wants prayer to be something we dread doing. Prayer is our way of communicating with… Read more »
