Guess what??

My best friend is getting married in a week! Yay!!! 🥳 🥳 🥳

It blows my mind that we are old enough to get married. It was just yesterday that we were playing “pretend wedding!” and now she’s getting married in real life!

(This is a picture of me realizing she’s getting married in a week LOL!)

Because my friend is getting married during this crazy time, things have had to look a bit different. I don’t want to share all the details of her wedding/life here on my blog, of course. But as her maid of honor, I will say that planning a bachelorette weekend with her and her two sisters has been interesting.

Things looked like they were opening back up… but then everything closed down again.

And the LAST thing we want is for her to get sick before her wedding day, so we’re being super careful.

So, her sister and I were brainstorming ideas for her bachelorette weekend, and we came up with a few at-home ideas: having a movie night or a spa day. Or both 😅

I absolutely love the idea of having a DIY spa day! Because I’ve never done one before, I quickly started daydreaming and brainstorming ideas.

I wanted to write down all my ideas in one spot. That way, I can send it to my friend for her to review before her bachelorette weekend (Hi Michaela!!). Additionally, by blogging about it I can share my ideas with you! Win-win!

How To Create a DIY Spa Day

What could be more pleasant than a spa at your very own home?! Learn all about how you can have your very own DIY spa day!

Create a Relaxing Environment

Find relaxing instrumental music and play that in the background. I use Amazon Prime Music and my go-to instrumental music is the album “Scottish Moors” by Jeff Victor or “Caribbean Escape” by Ed Smith and Shai Hayo.

Then, grab your diffuser and drop in Peace and Calming, lavender, or eucalyptus. Out of these three choices, I think eucalyptus would smell the most like a spa. However, Peace and Calming and lavender both come in the starter kit, so if that’s all you have, use one of those :)

If you’re able to, dim the lights or turn off the overhead lights and use a lamp.

You can also use some battery operated candles! I found a set of 12 from Amazon and they look like real candles and flicker too! (Learn why I avoid real scented candles here.)

Something To Sip On

Young Living’s NingXia would be pleasant to drink during your spa. You can also do a tall (and I mean TALL) glass of water with a tiny bit of Citrus Fresh stirred in. Lemon and peppermint tea would be nice as well.

DIY Face Mask

Start your spa day experience with a DIY Face Mask. You only need three ingredients!

  • 1 tbsp bentonite clay
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 5 drops frankincense essential oil
  • Add water to reach your desired consistency

Add Cucumber Slices to Your Eyes

According to Palo from The Princess Diaries, the cucumbers do nothing. However, even if that’s true, the idea of cucumber slices on eyes always relaxes me LOL and seems like the classic “spa thing” to do!

Towels on Your Neck

Then, warm up a towel and put a few drops of lavender on it. Or, freeze a towel with peppermint on it.

Personally, the warm towel with lavender sounds the most relaxing. :)

DIY Foot Scrub

After you wash off your facemask, treat yourself to a DIY Foot Scrub!

This is super easy to make and leaves your skin feeling super soft!

What you need:

  • 1.5 cups of brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • Essential oils of choice
  • A mason jar to store the sugar scrub in

I made my sugar scrub using lavender and lemon essential oils. You could do any combo of essential oils though! I’ve heard peppermint and lime is refreshing!

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and then transfer to the mason jar.

Here’s a video tutorial of me making the sugar scrub:

For the foot scrub, fill a large bowl with warm water. Dip your feet in and let them get wet. Then, rub a little bit of the sugar scrub on your feet. Stick them back in the warm water to rinse them off.

Massages

If you’re doing this spa day with a friend, take turns giving each other back/neck massages!

Take an Epsom Salt Bath

Epsom salts contain super relaxing magnesium. Make sure you use unscented Epsom salts because the added fragrance isn’t good for you.

Pour about a cup of the Epsom salts into your bathwater. Next, add a few drops of either Stress Away, Peace and Calming, or Lavender essential oil to the bath.

Enjoy!

A Note About Essential Oils:

I ONLY use Young Living essential oils. If you use essential oils that you find at Target or a drug store, they will not work for you. For a bottle to be labeled “pure essential oil” it only has to contain 5% of that essential oil! The rest of it can be filled with anything!

It’s super important that you choose essential oils from a company you trust. I chose Young Living because of their Seed to Seal guarantee. You can learn more about why I use Young Living instead of another brand by watching the video below.

I hope you now have plenty of ideas for how you can have a DIY spa day!

Which of these ideas sounds the most pleasant to you? Do you have another idea that I didn’t include?
