This is a guest post from Kayla of Many Sparrows Every morning, I stumble out of bed, grab my Coke-bottle glasses, and shuffle my way across the hardwood floors into the kitchen. Our four-year-old waits patiently for his oatmeal, and his hand always seems to find mine as I make breakfast in the early morning hours. I pour myself coffee as our two-year-old, his bedhead just as wild as his little heart, comes hustin’ out of his room. Motherhood, you… Read more »

Last week I told you lovelies about my university’s revival. Well, I didn’t mention something that I fully believe is a complete God-thing. One of my revival small group leaders teaches a Zumba class here at Not Hogwarts. Zumba. And, unlike last semester, the Zumba classes no longer conflict with my work schedule. *Cheers* I love Zumba. Over the summer, I attended some Zumba classes at a local gym for the first time ever, and I couldn’t believe how fun it was. So,… Read more »

Disclaimer: These are my personal thoughts and opinions. I by no means have this whole modesty thing figured out, I just wanted to share with y’all what I’ve learned about it thus far. Feel free to disagree with me, but please keep your thoughts respectful and courteous :) Blessings! There are two things you should know about me for the following story to make sense: 1. I am a VERY legalistic person. 2. I don’t like breaking rules. Anywho… When… Read more »

The Story of My Not-Purity Ring

No, I’m not engaged. Now that we’ve cleared that up, I want to share the story behind my “purity” ring. Because, it’s not really a purity ring, as in a ring I wear until I’m married to show that I refuse to have sex. Nope. In fact, I plan on wearing this ring even after I get married (and have sex). Instead, my ring is a reminder. …A reminder of what? Glad you asked :) But first, some background info:… Read more »

Today I composed a letter to myself… my thirteen-year-old self that is :) When I was writing this post,  I wrote about specific things I needed to hear when I was thirteen– as if thirteen-year-old Kara could actually receive this letter and read it. I thought it would be interesting to look back and see what I cared about when I was thirteen. Also, I didn’t provide too many details about thirteen-year-old Kara’s future, because she doesn’t need to know… Read more »

Happy February!!! I love February, simply because I love Valentine’s Day! I love Valentine’s Day so much, but I’ll explain why more in a later post, so check back for that :) Anywho, the one thing better than Valentine’s Day, is a DISNEY THEMED Valentine’s Day, am I right? This is where you nod your head and echo “You’re right.” Thank you for your participation :) So, I am going to be sharing with y’all my “Disney Love Song Playlist”… Read more »

I’m so excited to be blogging here now! *Squeals* In case you just stumbled upon this site, you should know that I used to blog at chosenholyloved.weebly.com (don’t bother looking for it, it’s basically just a tombstone now).  So, when you look at old pictures, that’s why my chosen-holy-loved logo is on them, not my Coffee with Kara logo. Anywho… Welcome to coffeewithkara.com, and I hope you enjoy your stay and come back again soon! Blessings, Kara   You might… Read more »

Through out the years, many books have become my dear friends. Three book series in particular have come to me, held my hand, and helped me through an era of my life. They walked with me, encouraged me, taught me truths about life and God. The books made me laugh out loud and thus brightened up my day. Sometimes, they would even make me cry. Even through it all, I loved them very much. So, I would like to take… Read more »

I’m not very artistic, but a few years ago when I saw a picture of a melted crayon art, I knew I had to give this creative, colorful, project a try. Melted crayon art is an easy project anyone can do. Today, I will be walking you through the steps of this project, so you can create your very own melted crayon art. Crayons (I recommend Crayola) Canvas (size according to your preference) Hot Glue and Hot Glue Gun Pencil… Read more »
