Originally published on June 11, 2015. I love rollerskating now. Which surprises me, because when I was eight or so I thought I would abhor rollerskating forever. You see, I had a very traumatic rollerskating experience when I was eight. The local homeschool group rented the skating rink, and so my family went. I didn’t know how to skate well, so I stayed near the wall. Eventually, the DJ called for a couples skate, and my mom and I started… Read more »

I am sad. I am sad because I am finished with school. You see, this past Friday, I graduated. Which is great and happy and all, but I’m gonna miss my university and my professors and my friends so much!! This last semester has been so crazy busy. I’ve been student teaching and taking my teacher certification tests and taking my very last Spanish course. Swamped. I’ve felt swamped and stressed out.   But now it’s over and I’m sad…. It’s my first official day of college. I sit at my desk in my dorm room working on a Spanish assignment. Distractedly, I fiddle with my pencil. The college group at the First Baptist Church had passed out fliers for a back-to-school part, and they were going to watch The Lion King and eat ice cream. I really want to go. I love The Lion King. Besides, it’s my first day of college. I should go do something fun. I… Read more »

Someone wise once said, “Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.” Well, I can certainly attest to the first part of that. How is it that it was three years ago that I started University? That’s insane to me! Where has the time gone?? Was it really three whole years ago that I loaded all the boxes up on my dad’s truck and drove 20 minutes to my University to move into a dorm? Three years ago… Read more »

{Actually, it was never written, but that didn’t go with the alliteration. Please pardon me. ;) } . . . So I originally typed all of this to go in my “Three Years Later” post that will be published Thursday (a reflection upon this school year). But my Pageant reflections ended up way too long so figured I should just dedicate an entire post to my Pageant experience. Thus this post. So here we go…     Sometime during the… Read more »

As a forewarning, this isn’t a happy post. But it’s a hopeful post.  Also, it’s a loooonnnnggg post. If you don’t have time, but want to know the gist of what I’m about to say, it’s summed up on my About page.  . . . Today we’re taking a break from the usual routine and I’m going to write a very personal post, because, well, I need to. You see, five years ago today, my 18 year old cousin died… Read more »

My dear friend, it is time yet again for you and I to take an imaginary trip to the coffee shop to discuss life. Oh man, have I got something exciting to tell you! Brimming with excitement, I order a small caramel frappuccino and you order your drink of choice. Then we wander to a cosy corner of the coffee shop and settle into our chairs. I take a sip of my drink, eyes dancing excitedly. You lean forward in… Read more »

When I was eleven I attended a “6th grade retreat” which was put on by my small private school. There were four other sixth graders in my cabin, and we had two counselors who were both seniors in high school. On the very first night of the retreat, our counselors gave us cute composition books to use as a journal or notebook during our time at the retreat. Since that moment, journaling has become a very dear habit of mine,… Read more »

A while back I had an idea of asking those apart of the Joy Because Grace newsletter to submit any questions they had for me to be addressed in a Q&A format blog post. I love Q&A style posts, and I think this could be a fun way for y’all to get to know me better. At the end of the post I’ll tell you how you can submit questions if you’d like :) Let’s get started… How old are… Read more »

Hey y’all! The past two years I’ve written a post on Thanksgiving, listing who I’m thankful for. I wrote these posts while sitting on the couch watching Miracle on 34th Street with my mom. Well, that didn’t happen this year. The past two years, Thanksgiving day was pretty chill, and we would then have our big extended family Thanksgiving that Saturday. This year, we had our big extended family Thanksgiving today. So I had no time to watch Miracle on 34th Street, nor did… Read more »
