Sometimes I don’t feel like being thankful. Sometimes I’d rather sit in a puddle of complaints and worries than list out what I’m grateful for. Sometimes I focus on all that’s going wrong in my life, instead of fixing my eyes on Jesus and all the blessings He has given me. Being thankful is hard!! Can you relate? So often I find I don’t tell God “thank you” when he answers my prayers. It’s not like I’m not thankful He answers prayers- I am!- I just forget to actually thank Him. Especially when I consider my prayer requests to be insignificant. What’s up with that?? For example, I often quickly pray for safe travels when I’m driving. It can be super easy to be thankful for the good in life. Food, water, family, shelter, Jesus, you know, the traditional answers to the “What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?” question. Being thankful for happy things, is fantastic. It is a great place to start when beginning a journey to be thankful in all things. However, we can’t stop there. I love my church. It’s a small congregation compared to the church I grew up in, and I think it’s the perfect size. The people are so friendly and welcoming. For instance, this past Sunday after Sunday School, some sweet little old lady tip-toed into our classroom.
