I asked the married women who are a part of The Peony Project, “If you could give a single Christian sister any advice about her single years, what would it be?” and was blown away by their responses. More than 25 women responded with great tidbits for us. Since so many women responded, I must warn you now. This is not a good post for skimming. However, this is a great post to sit down on the couch to read,… Read more »

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Singleness is hard, y’all. It’s definetly not for the faint of heart. I’ve got 20 years of experience being single (despite the fact that’s how old I am), and so I’d be the first to tell you that it has not been easy. I chose not to date until I was 18. I didn’t want to have to deal with a dating relationship amongst the other drama of high school. But… Read more »

The following is a guest post by Naomi of www.127living.com My dream of adopting began long before I met my husband. I clearly remember the moment I realized adoption was in my future. I had just finished Louisa May Alcott’s book, Little Men. In it, the main character, Jo, runs a home for boys. But when all of your closest friends are in dating relationships, and you’re not? It’s a tricky situation. You want to be genuinely happy for your friends- and so often you are. Want to know something I think is pretty bizarre? I write a blog about singleness.  The fact that I have this space to voice my frustrations with this season and write down encouraging thoughts that others- that you!- can relate to completely amazes and humbles me. Because I don’t have this singleness thing figured out. No. Way. José. I’m constantly struggling with discontentment and jealousy- down to the point I even deleted my Facebook and Instagram apps for a while…. Read more »

Once again, I’m in awe of how it doesn’t matter what circumstance we are in, we can still be thankful for our singleness. We don’t need some idealistic, perfect scenario to come true in order for us to give thanks to God for singleness. Our circumstances may change and our histories may be starkly different, but our God is the same. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been in a relationship before. It doesn’t matter if you’ve recently come out… Read more »

Being thankful for singleness is HARD y’all. I’m not going to pretend that it is easy. And several of the girls who have shared in this series would agree with me. By reading the responses of the girls who shared in this series, it has become easier for me to see why I can be grateful for singleness. I pray that soon it will be second nature. Through this series, I have read accounts of girls for whom it seems easy for… Read more »
