My dear friend, it is time yet again for you and I to take an imaginary trip to the coffee shop to discuss life. Oh man, have I got something exciting to tell you! Brimming with excitement, I order a small caramel frappuccino and you order your drink of choice. Then we wander to a cosy corner of the coffee shop and settle into our chairs. I take a sip of my drink, eyes dancing excitedly. You lean forward in… Read more »

Last year I rounded up my favorite singleness/dating videos by Blimey cow and compiled them into a blog post for your viewing convenience. Since then, they have made more hysterically funny videos on this topic, and so I just had to share them with you! :) Some background though, in case you don’t know who Blimey Cow is. Blimey Cow is composed of two Christian brothers who are now somewhere in their twenties (Josh and Jordan), Josh’s wife, and some… Read more »

A few months ago a reader emailed me and asked if I could write a blog post about what it means to give your heart to a guy.

“By the way could you do a blog on what it means to give your heart to a guy? I’m not sure I understand what it all means. Because can’t you give your heart just by your evil thoughts?”
Quite frankly, this question stumped me. Which is why the blog post she requested is just now being published– I had to think about this some!

I met Tracy Levinson, the author of Unashamed: Candid Conversations about Dating, Love, Nakedness and Faith, at Declare this past July. We just happened to be sitting around the same table at dinner one night, and we were all sharing goals for our blogs/ministries. Tracy mentioned how she had a heart for young singles and wanted to encourage them. She mentioned that she had in fact just written a book about dating. Well, that caught my attention, so after dinner, I walked… Read more »

Dear Internet, I’ve noticed there have been a lot of articles floating around Pinterest, Facebook, and other social media that spew relationship advice, claiming there’s a “one-size-fits-all” way to date. Once upon a time, I would have soaked up all of their advice, wanting to prepare myself for when I would eventually start dating. I browsed Pinterest, reading Christian and secular articles alike, and I couldn’t really find anything conclusive. But after all, no wonder all the advice seemed different… Read more »

The gate slammed shut right as my brother and I reached the front of the line. Four-year-old Kyle stuck out his lower lip and proceeded to grasp ahold of the gate, peering through the wires at the lucky kids who were already able to enter the gate and ride the fun Taz Swings at this Six Flags park. His brow furrowed and he begun to shake the gate as hard as his tiny arms could. “Let me in!” He pouted…. Read more »

Today I’m happy to announce that Kathryn of downhomedamsel.com is sharing about faith’s role in the modern dating world. Faith in the modern dating world Dating in the modern world is no easy feat for many of us. I’ve found myself feeling discouraged relationship after relationship and simply wondering why things just didn’t work out. I would occasionally vent to my mom and friends saying things like, “We didn’t communicate well, He wasn’t ambitious enough, He just wasn’t that into me.”… Read more »

The following guest post is by Emma of Creative Explorations. Bringing all my thoughts on this topic into an organized place is no small task. In fact, I feel nearly unequipped to be instructing all of you, when I myself have so much to learn. To be honest, I was flattered when Kara asked me to post for her, but also mildly terrified. Dealing with guys is such a big topic, and there’s so much more to it than I’ll… Read more »

It seems like just yesterday my childhood best friend and I were dressing up for our pretend weddings. These weddings always took place during her younger siblings’ nap time. We would quietly slip upstairs, and then get ready to say “I do.” We would take turns being the bride and the groom was always my friend’s giant stuffed animal dog who we pretended was the man of our dreams. The other one of us would be the minister, proudly pronouncing… Read more »
