So today I’m trying out something new… A VLOG!!! I have never vlogged before, but it was a lot of fun! (Despite the video spazzing… and then YouTube spazzing…. and me having absolutely ZERO clue about how to edit a video on my phone…..) This vlog is a part of The Golden Vlog series that Faith of Life w/ Mrs. G and the Artist started a while back. I first found out about The Golden Vlog at the end of… Read more »

^My life right now. For reals. I know I said at the beginning of this month that I want to be better at blogging consistently. Ha! That was back before I looked at all my syllabuses (Syllabi? What is the plural of syllabus???) for all my classes and realized I have a million and one things to do this month. Well, maybe not quite that many, but I do have several projects/papers in each of my classes due the week… Read more »

The first graders to whom I’m teaching Spanish finished learning the Spanish alphabet this past Friday!! Whoo hoo! I’m so proud of them. A while back Anna of She Is Joyful wrote a post entitled “The ABCs of Me.” I thought it was such a cute idea. So today, in honor of my awesome first graders, I’m sharing the ABCs of Kara. Here we go… A- Age: 19 B- Best Day Ever: There have been plenty off awesome and memorible days after this, but… Read more »

So, Halloween was lots of fun :) I dressed up in the ceiling fan costume I made last year, and then spent the day helping one of my besties, Bre, make her Halloween costume. She decided to be a scarecrow, and I had a blast stuffing her with straw. While we were at the dollar store buying costume supplies, I stumbled across some foam swords. And got really excited. Because foam swords are awesome. So I bought 3 swords so Bre and… Read more »

A few weeks ago I posted about Operation Christmas Child and challenged us to pack one more shoe box this year than we did last year. My fellow college students, this challenge is for us too. I know how easy it is to pull the “But I’m a poor college student!!” excuse, or the “But I’m so busy!” excuse. Don’t. No excuses. These children have nothing. Zip. Nada. This may be their first present ever. Their first time hearing about Jesus. So that… Read more »

It’s so hard! It’s so stinkin’ hard!  It’s so hard not to become jealous when you see someone else who has something you want. It’s so hard to be genuinely happy for them. So hard to smile when you’re heart is aching. Currently, in this phase of my life, it’s hard for me to be happy when I see cute couples who are dating. It’s hard for me to see strangers who are smiling, holding hands and walking to class… Read more »

Sometimes people leave. Sometimes by their own choice or by a family decision. Sometimes people just switch schools or move to a completely new town or even a new state. Sometimes people wish they could stay, they just can’t right now. They have to go away. Maybe this time apart is a season. A season that will last a few months, or maybe it will be several years before they move back nearby. Maybe this friendship will be long distance… Read more »

Have we made an idol of school? Do we bow to it before we bow to our Lord? Do we place our value and worth in the hands of the grade book, instead of in the hands of our loving Father? Sometimes. I don’t think we intentionally worship school. In fact, if you’re like me, the mere thought of worshiping school sounds revolting. Because we have become bored with our classes, school stresses us out, or we just plain don’t like school…. Read more »

Guess what time it is??? It’s time for OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD!!! **Throws confetti** Whoo hoo!! Operation Christmas Child is an amazing program. In case this is your first time hearing about it, OCC is a branch of Samaritan’s Purse, which is an international relief organization that helps hurting people and tells people about Jesus. Pretty cool, right? More specifically, OCC is made up of people, like you and me, filling shoe boxes with simple items. (More on these boxes in… Read more »

Please tell me I’m not the only one with a gazillion things due this month. It seems like I have a project or test or paper or something due every second now. You know that feeling that comes after studying too much? When your brain turns to mush and you can’t hardly think at all? And you try staring 30 ft away to rest your eyes, but it just doesn’t help? This is me right now. Making a massive to-do list… Read more »
